When winter hit the mountains, it hit hard. A big ol’ blizzard blew through, and covered the valley with the white gold. We were excited to get on real snow, but it wasn’t enough for Moraine Lake Road to be groomed. After obsessive checking of Skier Bob’s website, we decided to make Sunday another day at Frozen Thunder. With the snow guns blaring, the windchill dropped the temperature significantly. The track, which yesterday had been a slush pit, suddenly became an ice rink covered in ball bearing chunks of snow. Somehow, the skiers still had smiles on their face, and their positive attitudes made the fact that we kind of bungled the grip wax not so bad.
