Red Deer’s Nordic Ski Trails
Through close collaboration between the City of Red Deer, River Bend Golf and Recreation Society and the Parkland Ski Club, over 30 km of groomed ski trails are available each winter throughout the Waskasoo Park system – right within the City boundaries.
The majority of the ski trails are centered in two areas:
Heritage Ranch/Great Chief Park (HR/GCP)
River Bend Golf and Recreation Area (River Bend). We offer 4 km of lit ski trails, which can be turned on at dusk. The lights will stay on until the park closes at 9 pm. There are 3 lit loops each with their own on switch (red button) for users to activate as needed. If you arrive and it is dark, you can turn on the lights for the evening! A biathlon shooting range is also available at River Bend.
Shorter trail loops are also provided at Barrett Park, the Red Deer College lands and in various school playgrounds.
