Start/Finish Working the Start and Finish line puts you in the middle of the action and is very exciting! The work here is also very important – we want to give the racers a positive experience, fair starts and prompt and accurate timing results.
Transportation This is another perfect volunteer opportunity for those who wish to race. We need someone to transport essential equipment to and from St. Albert and Leduc before and after the event. A pick-up truck with a trailer hitch is required.
Controllers Controllers take positions at control points on the course watching for and recording infractions. Full training is provided.
Course Course crew volunteers ski the course, setting up and taking down flagging and placing signs and markers. We also need people at key spots along the course raking or filling in the snow between races.
Volunteer Services Register the volunteers and distribute their required equipment. Staff the hospitality suite providing food and beverages to volunteers, officials and dignitaries.
Race Office We are the communications and support center for the Race. Some of the tasks to be done: compile race packages for the competitors, sort and hand out bibs, answer general inquiries at race office, and provide minor clerical support to race officials.
Venue Services Venue services will manage all signage to control traffic and parking; manage the team wax tent area; set up the awards podium; and manage pedestrian traffic on site if required. Most of the work is done prior to the races leaving lots of time to watch or compete!
Stadium Help set up and take down all banners; markings; dividers; start and finish areas; and fencing etc. in the stadium each day. Control pedestrian access points to the inner stadium.
Awards & Publicity Help the Awards presenters organize and hand out medals; or capture the event in photos to be posted daily on the Cross-Country Canada website.
